DID YOU KNOW that the dictionary lists two pronunciations for the word lava, one with a short "a" sound, and one with a dieresis .. over the a, as in lauva. In an informal poll conducted the week of July 9th, 10 out of 14 pronounced it lava with a short a sound, as in cat. And after calling 5 Lava motels, the Chamber of Commerce, and the Olympic swimming Pool directly, I found that they all pronounced it lava (as in cat) also. Just in case you were wondering.........

I can't imagine who you would be talking to....

Well, I guess all that matters is that your 4 children, two daughters-in-law and probably all your grandchildren call it LAW-VA.

But who are we to mess with the Chamber of Commerce? Shoot. Sounds like you might have gotten some help from the Blair side for that kind of research... ;)

I can't believe my own family is accusing me of tampering with an independent survey, and by the way, only two Blairs were included in the group of 14. It's okay, you can still call it Lawva...Maybe it's like Hooper and Huper; those that grew up there call it Hooper. Or maybe Laytun or Laytn...
